The 2008 Musical Fruitcake was intended to be my final production of the long running series. For a few years I had been toying with the idea of putting together a “deep” track compilation from the 80′s and decided that this was the year to make it happen. Seeing as the majority of my 1980′s deep music exploration had happened while hanging out with Hugo Herrera (h-track), I invited him to join me on the journey.
With Hugh having done so much more 80′s music exploration in the last decade than me, the plan was to have me compile a selection of tracks from bands that people had heard of and for him to put together a selection from artists most people had not. The end result is one of the most dynamic Musical Fruitcakes of the series and I argue, the single most original one to date.
